The Second Chance School of Ioannina is a school for adult learners that have not finished compulsory education. Learners are at risk of social exclusion since a great number of them are unemployed. The curriculum includes, amongst other subjects, participation in projects relative to environmental awareness, local culture and arts. We are undertaking a project entitled “Recycled Art” aiming to senzitize students as far as recycling and the reduction of rubbish are concerned. Furthermore, the aims are learning to be creative through art, becoming environmentally aware, learning about the importance of reusing and recycling resources for environmental sustainability. This recycled craft project is going to reinforce the key messages of sustainability and we are going to use art to raise environmental awareness. Last but not least, this pedagogical practice is going to increase the accessibility and attractiveness of adult education and the participation in a European partnership is going to reinforce the students’ sense of belonging to Europe.
